VBARC participates in multiple events throughout the year.  From providing emergency communications at races to running parades.  Listed below are the events for the upcoming year and a brief on each event.  We are constantly looking for a person to become the Project Manager (PM) for each event.  We can add new events throughout the year as long as someone steps up to the PM role.

The PM will be the face of VBARC to organization requesting our participation.  This person will will attend any organization meetings, solicit Ham participants at club meetings and set up the event with the volunteers.  Now you are not working alone!  Tom Moore, WS9B, and Terry Buzzard, KA8TNF, will be the technical and mentoring team behind you for the events. So this is very good way to get involved with the club.  First as a volunteer and then move up to be a PM.

VBARES/Public Service has selected three (3) crossband frequencies for the year - they are: 445.775, 445.875 and 445.85.  We have also selected three (3) 2 mtr frequencies for simplex operation - they are: 147.57, 147.405 abd 147.51.  These frequencies will have and Encode and Decode tome of 233.6.  You will need to add these frequencies to your radios.  We will also use 146.49 at times.

Shamrock Festival - March 15 & 16, 2025 A major sports festival in Virginia Beach featuring 8k, 1 mile, 1/2 Marathon and a Full Marathon over the weekend.  Need lots of help on this one.  The Project Manager will be Tom Moore, WS9B or Terry Buzzard KA8TNF  mailto:ps@w4ug.com
Tour De Cure Bicycle Race - April 26, 2025 A 100 mile race from Chesapeake VA to Mateo, NC.  This is a Chesapeake Amateur Radio Society Event.  A lot of Amateurs are needed throughout the course to ensure the safety of the riders.  Contact: Van Rowe mailto:km4bs@gmail.com

Harbor Lights Sports Fest - November 22 & 23, 2024 J&A Racing  presents this new event by Bon Secours in Motion. In will be in the downtown area of the city of Norfolk with the start and finish at Town Point Park on the waterfront.
